Solvent weld soil pipe?

I've got to join to this 110mm pipe,
can I solvent weld it or is it ok to put the brown double socket onto it?
I've got these fittings,


It was left by the builders with an upside down socket just dropped over it!

I thought it didn't look right!
And yes it was leaking
Luckily its only the kitchen and utility room waste and not any poo related stuff!

I’d solvent weld it if it’s to be permanent.

If you solvent weld then use the 2 part stuff, clean, prime then glue. make sure it goes on first time because it won't come off

Never tried the two part. Used tonnes of the standard stuff over the years, various pond builds.

Most of the rest of the world uses 2 part, it has to be used in Australia

I often just whack a load of glue on but in the scenario the op has I always use 2 part

Thanks @Kayos but I doubt I'll get any 2 part today and it has to be done or we (she) has no kitchen or dishwasher!
What if I clean the parts with acetone first?
Or is it better to use the push fit ?

Make sure its clean, whack a load of glue on the fitting, slide it on and give it a little twist then leave it well alone. Have a brew, 10 mins on the forum then continue

Where can the two pack be obtained.

I get it from an independent merchant, last lot was Osma. The primer smells strongly of acetone and the glue does work on its own but is thinner than normal stuff.

edit: if looking online it might be sold as pressure glue

I've just done an experimental joint with some spare pipe, so far it looks like a good seal.....

i glue both the pipe and fitting but thats my method when gluing fittings on

For existing I would usually go pushfit, you need to be sure to old pipe is properly clean to glue

your supposed to paste both parts then push together then wipe of any excess . I prefer solvent weld as against push fit where not accessible. no chance of coming loose or leaking

Just to give a report on how it went in the end, I solvent welded the fitting to the pipe and it ain't going anywhere! Seems to be a good job done.
