there isnt one cokes best u can use coal in a proper coal forge that converts the coal to coke while in use but is easier to just buy the coke

There is a seller doing half or full tonne loads on ebay (look up forge coke or forge breeze).

You want coke beans. the size is important as is the composition of the fuel. But yes you can use just about anything to get by. Recently I used anthracite beans, but its not ideal.

coke burns cleaner and is hotter than coal . using it with an air blower it can melt cast iron no problem

cpl fuels[ a nationwide company] sell proper forge fuel, it's just like small coke,I got some for my furnace a couple of yrs ago,it's o-k in my forge but burns away too fast in the furnace, you can use ordinary coal but it's just a bit smokey,I've seen a couple of blacksmiths using coal,mainly 'cos it was supplied free!!!

Lots of smiths use coal and just leave it to stop smoking before blowing air through it.

Coal isn't as good for various reasons.

The reason they haven't got back to you is that they know they don't sell proper forge coke.

I recommend using anything you can find to get started though.

I'll have a look through my suppliers list to see if I can find a good source near you.

One of my mates shoes horses and they use coke, maybe you could phone up a local Farier/horse shoe person and they should tell you where to get it local.

this is a list i've seen before of coke suppliers not many around so you'll be lucky to find something very local.

there is a shop on ebay too that sells coke and the deliver if you don't mind paying the£50.
