Hi. I need to drill a 12mm hole in an old Paramo/Record vice jaw and the steel is, understandably, very hard. I tried a DeWalt Extreme cobalt bit on it and it just mildly interefered with the surface ;D
So, off eBay, I got a Dormer R458 solid carbide TiAlN coated bit for a bargain £10. Having never used such a bit before, I’m wondering about drill speed and whether to lube or not. The maximum my drill press will go to is 2410.
Thanks for any and all advice.
