I give it a couple of weeks before the Optimum kit is broken & they will wish they kept the Herbert, No comparison.
Last school i worked in we had three Optimum pillar drills the rise & fall mech on all broke within weeks. The maintenance contractor gave us some spares & the gears appeared to be made from compressed sintered swarf. Handles fell off as the threads stripped out of castings. Shocking quality.
see post 24Each head will un bolt, only 4 bolts and electrical connections.
If there's enough slack, I'd drop the table, unbolt the 4 columns and the bottom and bolt them back onto the table to reduce centre of gravity and keep secure. Might need to knock up an adaptor plate or 4 to get 4 bolts onto the table, but saves un wiring.
Love those old Herbert drills!
