Soda will work fine. A skilled blaster working with a propper soda set up (no disresepect meant, but this doesnt include the £100 ebay special blasting pots, they just dont allow the fine tuning you need for delicate stuff. A decent soad pot will run to about £5k) can strip paint from just about any material without damaging the base coat. They say that a good operator can take the top coat off the paint and leave the primer behind undamaged, im not quite sure about that, but theyre certainly very good.

We've now got some plastic media to try. At least that is reusable. God knows how you'd get rid of kgs of baking soda, the bit I tried on the grass has burnt it
I think the simple pot they is good enough for what they want to achieve. And it would be cheaper the send out the work than paying 5k for a pot, for the amount its going to see.

getting rid of soda? just wash it down the drain!! actually most of it gets bagged up and skipped as its just inert dust, but you really can (up to a point) just wash it away!!
