snap on welder worth it?

i just spotted this welder on the main site for selling stuff in ireland, are these welders any good , i know snap on is a good brand what are their welders like is it worth 650? thats about 520 pounds

Snap on don't make welders, but if they did ! Sorry slipped into a Carlsberg advert there. It will be a welder from another company with a Snap on badge painted on it and for a second hand welder that sounds like a lot of money and there's no details of amperage and the picture leaves a lot to be desired but the gas would sweeten the deal if it is refillable without taking out an agreement. The Parweld gets some good press.

...they'd still be over-hyped and over-priced, like all their other gear. Of course they can give a fat guarantee: they've already made the money in the selling price and work on the principle that not everyone will break tools and not everyone will go back for a replacement.
I have a mate's Snap-On MIG here, it's the same cack quality as most DIY welders, made by (I think) Cebora, down to a price like they all are. It's no better built than any other brand I've ever worked on so I wouldn't be paying a premium just to have the SnapOff badge.

Am fairly sure it would be a cebora which are decent enough hobby machines but it's way overpriced in my opinion,,, think the Parweld is a much better machine also a few other good un's on the market in the £500 region.

Am I mistaken or with VAT are you paying around £800?, seems an awful lot for what it is.

Might be worth contacting this sites sponser weldequip and having a chat, even with delivery I think there could be a big saving or is there something stops you buying from the UK...import tax?...sorry if it sounds daft..I simply don't know.

It's Ireland Pete, and in 2013 its going up to 22%, and 23% from 2014

i just had a look at the weldequip shop the portamig seems like a good welder , the parweld will be about 830 euro wich is probably around 720 pounds , so id weldequip will do a good deal on shipping i might go for them

Mine is a Portamig 235, great machine and weldequip are good to deal with, lots of us have bought off him.
