True... I think it's made by Sykes Pik. Lifetime warranty ONLY if you keep the receipt. Even though the brand is stamped all over it.

I know this as my mate manages a Shop...

I use loads of it along with my snap-on, teng and britool.

Well i finally managed to catch up with the rep and turns out to be a nice chap.

BTW as said in the first post, didn't want to get into THAT debate..... I work hard to earn it, I get to enjoy spending it!!

Fair enough... Just don't expect anything special apart from a large invoice.

Quite right, I just treated myself to this...

That means me and the SO dealer will be seeing eachother a fair bit over the next two years but you can't take it with you.

Nothing wrong with wanting/buying quality stuff.I've got cheap stuff and expensive stuff but its nicer using quality tools.Not sure if halfords would change a spanner after 20 odd years for a bit of chrome peel even if you had the receipt.

There might be some discretion allowed, depending on the branch. I recently bought my girlfriend one of their toolkits and after less than two months the spring clip had broken in the 1/4" bit-holder. She just walked in and said "Can I have this replaced, please?" The chap went to the tool cabinet, picked out another one and handed it to her. Maybe they have had a problem with those recently and they see a lot coming back.

Come to think of it, I've never been asked for a receipt when exchanging anything faulty from Halfords, even if it isn't their own stuff.

I've got a Halfords ratchet screw driver looks identical to SO. Anyway it stopping ratcheting so took it back, refused to replace it as I didn't have the receipt.

I don't understand their reasoning behind this if it's got a lifetime warranty then why do you need the bloody receipt.

Ratchet mechanisms aren't covered under halfords warranty, never have been and it usually has it plastered all over the boxes and displays, or it did when I worked there, as for exchanging stuff if it had halfords professional stamped in it we just swapped it without any receipt as the pro stuff is what has the lifetime warranty not the rest of their tools.
