Even at 12.4V, connecting the charger should still show you a rise to 13V and above quite quickly. Stop quickly if it's getting to around ~14.5

Where are we on getting the AC voltages on the second side of the transformer? Remember we only need the B1 and C1 settings?

I believe I said earlier the readings were the same front and back plate

Sorry, I missed that; but when you say front and back, that does mean as per lines 1 and 2 in my first markup.

Well, that's great because it limits any problem to a small number of cheap(ish) components on the low-volts side.
Have a look at the DC circuit breaker; does that have a button that pops out when it is tripped, i.e, try pushing any button in.

It would be good to know, that with your meter set on DCV20 (and nothing else connected), what voltage you can find across the two connecting leads with the B1 and C1 settings.

Yes that is what I meant and am going to try your suggestions now

Well Ross I do not know how or why but it is working as it should I got a definite 5 amps on B1 and 60 amps on C1 and once again let me thank you for your kind help

Excellent! Such is the nature of all old things electric. If it's delivering 60amps in to a battery that already substantially charged, I guess we are looking at something more for flat battery; take care!

I actually got the battery down to 10,9
