Smoking Saw?!

ok so I was using the table chop saw to cut up fire wood It started smoking!

I know I should have gave it a break to cool down but I didnt.

Now it is tripping breakers so I tried it in the garage and it blew the fuse.

Is it likely to be terminal?

There was quite a bit of smoke for the motor bushes are fine though barley worn!

Sure fire way to kill a chopsaw is forcing it to work harder than needed by applying force.

yes i was stupid i rescued it from the rubbish bin at work so it owes me nothing! its a rexon xcut chopsaw

we were abbusing my cousins Bosch grinder to cut some floor boards with a metal cutting disc his idea it was an emergency but same thing it smoked like a goodun much worse than this saw. You know what he still has the same grinder in use today once it had cooled down it was good to go again back to work! it did take a hour or more to cool down though. I couldnt believe it when he started cutting the floorboards with it again!

It sounds othough it may be dead they didn't usually run again after they have done that

might be ok for my metal work instead of the evo saw.

Any one got one are they much cop?

i dont have that one but i have a makita one

it cuts through no problem to a degree but ive got a thick blade in mine and it takes forever sometimes i get bored and spin the steel just to cut it quicker

a noisey one at that but it does what it needs prefer the grinders 1mm disc for the 5mm box section as cuts quicker

grinder good for straight cuts but for angles where it needs to be accurate i dont think id be using my grinder

that particular cutter turns the work piece not the blade right? so makes it awkward when cutting 5M lengths unless u square cut the cut the angle

Along with a few others on here, I have one - for 'hobby' use, suspect they'd not stand up to 'pro' use.

Mine does what it says on the tin, but be warned they're very noisy esp cutting metal - and the metal chips a very hot and get everywhere [unless you catch them with a magnet in a poly bag, a tip I found on here ]- PPE is a must.
