Mine did help explain where all the pennies are going... mainly by me noticing the price-per-hour jump up as items were switched on...
Changing to LED lightbulbs allowed me to relax about lights being left on, seems like the whole house can now be lit up all day for the price of one old type bulb (although I still turn them off )
Didn't help at all with the other costs, though -
>> Short-burst, high-energy stuff like washing machine, dishwasher, tumbledryer, oven, microwave, all still consume the same amount every week.
>> Long-duration , low-energy stuff like fridge, freezer, tv, computers, all still cost the same each week.
