I've already spoken to the beyond helpful (not) customer service team at British Gas where I'd already predicted every answer long in advance, so thought it was worth a punt putting the feelers out for ideas on here.
Have a Geo Smart IHD in the house. Had worked absolutely fine for the past 5 years, reading Gas and Leccy, both BG supplied, and damn near real-time on the leccy front (believe Gas has 30min reads due to that being battery powered)
On Friday, we, and 2000+ other properties, had a couple of power outages. UKPN sorted it and when power resumed, and ever since, the IHD has failed to read or display leccy at all - even the standing charge isn't there, its just zero'd out.
Gas is still working absolutely fine, which given I believe the Gas Comms hub send to the Leccy comms which then send to the IHD rules out the Leccy comms hub to an extent and also the comms<>IHD connectivity.
I powered down the IHD overnight Friday thinking it might then try do some kind of forced re-sync, but no such luck. Device has been moved right next to the meter (not that I can see the range suddenly being problematic, they were close anyway). HAN and WAN lights on the comms hub are flashing every ~5seconds which suggests all is well.
The leccy data is getting to BG as I can see it feeding in, albeit with a 48hour delay which isnt unusual, so the Smart Meter is still being "smart".
Customer service refuse to replace the device (even when I offered to pay) and their newest isn't compatible with my meter, apparently, anyway.
In my thick head this will likely be something fairly simple in the pairing being broken or corrupted in some way. Obviously Advanced settings on the IHD are hidden behind a pin, and I imagine the same on the meter side.
Has anyone encountered similar, heard of similar, fixed similar? I'm all ears for ideas no matter how stupid as the IHD was genuinely useful for keeping tabs on things, especially when I went out for a few hours and came back to see the other half had magically added £3 to the bill whilst apparently doing "nothing"
Cheers,
Harry
