This is the problem, now they know they will estimate our bill but the problem is we had no gas at all for close to two days followed by no hob for sever4al days after that, plus we have a wood burner so we wouldn't have been using anywhere near as much as usual.
When they send the bill I'll query how they come up with the figure.
What amazes me is that they fitted a dead meter in the first place, it was clearly an old one taken out of a house and put into stock as it's dated 2013.

Only accept an estimate for 7days after you informed them ...
Thats a reasonable time for them to rectify after that I would require them to prove I had used anything

There is two versions of the smart meters. AIUT mk1 only some suppliers can read it. Mk2 evenone can read it.

the problem is they still have a load of mk1s, and not enough mk2s. So they stick mk1s where they can.

I am beginning to think that’s what the scrotes have done with my installation

Thats half a story, it is high use businesses they would be asking to be turned off, with considerable compensation, not domestic users. Plus its highly unlikely to ever happen

Smet1 and Smet2 couldn't be any different, smet2 are modern, smet1 look old, like an early smart meter and the in home display is very basic

There are different makes and models of each kind. Smets1 use mobile phone signal. smets2 use radio Depends where you live...some can get 1 or the other, some can get both, and a few can get none.

Smets1 were tied to the supplier Smets2 are not and in theory should work with any supplier.

Smets1 meters are being migrated on to the smets 2 system so should eventually not need to be swapped when you change supplier.

The difference is more to do with the communications and the back end....either type of meter counts your usage the same way.

Not exactly true....they can even look exactly the same Of course I am on about the meter thats screwed to the wall...the actual smart meter....not the little gadget you hold in your hand that many people think is the smart meter

I mean i only fitted around 2000 when I was fitting them for 18 months or so, I guess I find it easy to identify them
