Should be paired by the installer. If it's an add on then it will be a process to follow, usually putting a code in the meter then adding the new device
the original on is dying... keeps crashing... eon want me to pay 50 quid... the new 2nd hand one has never been paired and has an engineering mode that appears to be the bluetooth equivalent of searching... guess i need to do something to the buttons on my meter to pair it up
It's not 2 way Comms but the devices have to be paired. A few years ago I had a bit of a crisis so I quit my job and did smart meter fitting for 18 months, fitted around 2000
As we have knowledgeable people on this thread (again!) I'll annoy @Anguz by piggybacking on his thread:
my IHD display only shows electricity and not gas. Is this something I might be able to do something about or is it down to my supplier (EDF)?
The house is a new build so the meters were not a retrofit. I couldn't get the IHD for months - due to a lack of supply apparently. The electricity display worked as soon as I turned on the IHD. The gas has never worked.
The supplier's FAQs, Chat and other help sources are of no help.
