I think I have posted this before:
Last summer I saw a crow wait until a seagull left it's nest, then immediately flew into the nest and flew away with an egg in it's beak!Crows are well known for eating pretty much every other birds eggs or hatchlings in the nest.
Those are Rooks They have whitesh barnacle above beak, Crows don't.Yes the feathered kind.
Big crows were waiting near a service station and watching me eat a sandwich the other day. It struck me how smart the little dudes were. Proper eye contact and questioning head movements. Crows are a very intelligent animal this was a neat encounter for me.
I was on a construction site visit so I'll stop by the next time and see if they are still there no doubt they will be. There was about 5 of them. All very healthy and they got my crusts in the end up

Anyone have encounters with crows?
Wouldn't like to encounter a bird taller than me..If you think crows and rooks are clever, wait till you encounter a raven. They are extremely clever, they know the difference between my works pickup and vans. They’ll follow me into the forest knowing they have a chance of a free meal. They also follow me whilst I’m stalking, they keep their distance but are always in sight of you.
give that crow an extra treatLast summer I saw a crow wait until a seagull left it's nest, then immediately flew into the nest and flew away with an egg in it's beak!
I saw a video of seagulls swallowing pigeons whole?!Last summer I saw a crow wait until a seagull left it's nest, then immediately flew into the nest and flew away with an egg in it's beak!
It is impossible to compare the intelligence of primates, birds and dolphins. Birds have fewer neurons, but their software can use the available power more efficiently. It seems they are akin to a 7 year old intelligence. And like other birds we know they cam also hold a grudge
Apparently recent discoveries have found that smaller brains have smaller neurons...so miniaturisation in fact, which means that 'larger brain more intelligence' is under review......means I'm in with a chance...It is impossible to compare the intelligence of primates, birds and dolphins. I think these ones would be trainable for that definitely. They stood watching me intently and making full eye contact.
Crows are smart alright. They know what a gun looks like. Go for a walk, they aren't bothered in the slightest, but take something gun shaped and they're wary... Point it at them and they'll immediately scarper out of shotgun range!
It doesn't take them long to work out that a crow scarer cannon does just that, scares them, doesn't harm.
They're an absolute menace to both young crops and almost-ripe crops.
Thats brilliant it is incredible how good their eyesight is, i think we tried the broom handle once as well and similar results. One day we spent a while trying to find out what it was about crows and guns, come out holding a broom like a gun and they took no notice, Come out with a gun and off they went, Duct tape a broom handle to the gun, thus making it appear much longer and the crows were suckered!
