I’ll check out Thermal Arc.
I’ve been carrying a Oxford in the sidecar but filtering isn’t possible and it’s a bugger to steerGood luck. Since last year, they seem to have totally disappeared from the UK market. Our sponsor above, Welding Supplies Direct, used to carry them, as did Rapid Welding. Now, they are very difficult to find. Maybe someone in the business could give us some inside knowledge.
If the dimensions and weight given are correct, this one seems quite small:

30x23x141 mines a 175 se not te@pressbrake1 i know of a thermal arc 175te for sale locally to me. I have one and its a fantastic welder, can get dimensions off mine if you need, or I'm sure they're on the Web.
There's a GYS about half the height of that
You're right, but both mine and the one I mention are the older ones not made in India. A shame as like you say the old machines were good kit. One of the problems of big companies buying up smaller brands for their market share and then doing away with them.Thermal Arc are an ESAB Brand that they are slowly doing away with. You may remember the thermal arc fabricator Mig plants. Really nice arc on them. They've been made yellow, had ESAB slapped on the side and they're now made in India.
The Miller is the same, except blue. There is another red one but I can’t remember the name.Thermal Arc are an ESAB Brand that they are slowly doing away with. Really? That will be why all these machines weld the same. Crap. The Miller is the same, except blue. There is another red one but I can’t remember the name.
A guy on you tube took a few apart and the guts were identical
What is it that makes it a better weld in your experience?Really? That will be why all these machines weld the same. Crap.
Nothing better than an 20 year old transpocket
I’ll see if I can find it. I’ve seen 2 ESABs die within a short time.Really? That will be why all these machines weld the same. Crap.

By the end of that job, I couldn't even feel my arms. They were numb from being held above my head, j-prepping, grinding, getting the tubes out of that economiser, cutting new tubes, welding them in. 8 days i was there for and they started becoming 14-16 hour days to get the job finished. No there’s a smaller one. I know my small TA does 7018 cos I’ve done them. Those look nice by the way
