I presume cross slide and saddle moves in the x and z directions?
It looked like a vertical slide attached to the bed instead of the cross slide.Well if you're ambidextrous I'd imagine you can go from x corner to x corner.
I don't see what you're getting at?

It will be attached to the crosslide,otherwise whats the point of having a milling attachment on the lathe.
I was pondering on adapting this type of table on bridge support and turning the table vertically affixed to the bridge support,this way there's no need to faff about with the carriage or cross slide.

I used a good tablespoon per gallon, did the job fine.
Ive read about it but how do you remove the molasses afterwards? Got to be a harder cleanup than the washing soda and electrolysis method.

Don't really know stormin, it seems to a popular method in america though.
One thing to keep in mind is that the electrolysis converts rust to metal, whereas molasses removes the rust.
Ie if you had your rusty part in molasses (or probably any other weak acid), your part would in effect be dissolved slightly. This is not true for electrolysis.

Electrolysis does remove the rust, its the rust from the workpiece that ends up covering the anode. Afaik nothing can convert rust back to metal, once its corroded thats that.

Hmm, so basically the end result is this:
The rust on the rusty part is converted into clean metal (not moved anywhere), and the clean metal on the anode is converted to rust in equal proportions.
Ie the rust does not "move" between the parts as such.
Regarding the conversion between rust and metal, this is also possible in other scenarios. For example iron ore is basically rust (and other stuff). Rust is iron atoms and oxygen atoms bonded together (which is why it's called ferrous oxide).
To get clean iron from ore, you can for example add coal/carbon, and set fire to it/heat it
the lack of oxygen inside the mix means that the carbon/coal ends up "stealing" the oxygen atoms from the rust, forming carbon dioxide and leaving clean iron behind.
