Small maching job for someone

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this.

On my polisher the tapered spindle has worn threads (not really any specific thread) have gone flat on the end (bottom image , top is what it should look like) it is 210mm long and 40mm of at the larger end

Is there someone who could recut this in exchange for beer tokens. I'm. Based in Somerset but happy to post the pigtails. I've got two needing doing one isn't bad at all

I wouldn't have thought those will cause your mops any problem, due to the taper, I can't see them slipping?

Stick em in a chuck and run a triangle file up them. Could do it on the grinder if you're brave.

Cnc is not necessary. You can cut taper threads using a taper turning attachment

Cheers all these are the machines it's off 3hp 2 pole (3000rpm) canning

Normally the mops tighten when used but these are sometimes coming loose!! I'm wondering if one the very worn one is undersized as it looks concave slightly causing slipping

I have tried recutting with a file in situ but couldn't stay in the groove

I do know a specialist company in Birmingham (I got the backstands and contact mops off them)so they should have some in stock worst case if not possible/viable on a manual lathe (I have zilch machining knowledge)

I agree with piman. It shouldn't make any difference.

Yep you can, but you couldn't do it with mine because like many it's limited to about 7.5 degrees. The threads are already there though just need chasing out with a file.

I'm with Pete, Rig up to rotate at a slowish speed and use a thin disc on the angle grinder to follow the grooves down.

Cheers all. That's not a bad idea at all. Something I do all the time to fit on mini mops (2-3" diameter) for internal use. So no reason I can't do it on the larger mops. They do stay on but require a lot of force.

mines are like that too no problem as its a taper hold the spindle at other side and screw the mop up it will gradualy screw itself on with heavy use

give the thread a good clean out with a power brush

looks like the shaft unscrews from the motor as l
i see two flats on the spindle might get new extensions from cannings internal threads are handed and tighten against direction of the mop
