Do you recon one of these would survive running an air fed mask full duty?
the air fed welding masks seem to be LPHVI never really see why a lphv fan wouldn't be better for air fed.
I mean, my Henry, if it were able to reverse, would blow way more air than I could suffer, at a fraction of the power use, and without any oil at all.
I have to use two compressors anyway, so it's not like I "already have the compressor"
What do you use now? Also fed up with the Honeywell.I had the Honeywell mask. My 3hp compressor was on full duty to power it. Then there was the cost of the carbon filters in the three stage, which expire and are costly as heck. I gave up.
I use a full face 3M carbon filter mask. There's a PDF floating around this forum from a European health and safety department that tested carbon filters and found they filter out the isocyanate very well. I also found old memos from our health and safety department saying that they won't approve a passive mask because of risk of leaks. Well if risk of leaks is the risk then I'm happy to take it. I also think that compressor fed masks have their own risks which I'm not happy about. What do you use now? Also fed up with the Honeywell.
I think those IWATA ones are made from acetate. So cellulose. Foolishly I tried to clean some overspray off mine with cellulose thinners without realising it was acetate. Fogged it up beyond repair. Wanted a silly price for a new one so I just made my own. Seems like a very silly choice to put an Acetate visor on a spay painting mask.I have just bought the Iwata 2020 helmet. I'm quite impressed with it, the only niggles being that it is tight when wearing glasses And the fabric hood for the back is utter rubbish, held with three tiny bits of Velcro, which don't. I was pretty amazed that the visor film didn't get covered in overspray, yet my old 3M did. I could probably use the same Iwata film for a few sessions.
As far as carbon filters go, I have never changed one and it is only recently that I have noticed oily smells in the visor. I had new filters on order for months that never came, which is why I bought the new one.

Not paying the ridiculous prices on thoseBut you are meant to use a disposable film on top of the visor.
I’ve just had a quick look on eBay and the first one I’ve found is £13.95 for a pack of 10 covers. So just under £1.40 for a disposable coverNot paying the ridiculous prices on those
Which is still complete madnessI’ve just had a quick look on eBay and the first one I’ve found is £13.95 for a pack of 10 covers. So just under £1.40 for a disposable cover
