Im biased mind. Do a fair bit of restoration work and can't work as a carpenter without an affinity for wood.
This opening isn’t used anymore as a hedge has been planted the other side for more privacy.Hopefully not an issue anyone tripping on the box section at the bottom but a very nice gate, nice to see people take pride in their work...

I’m sure if they wanted to reinstate the entrance they could cement or pave a small path up to the bottom of box section...This opening isn’t used anymore as a hedge has been planted the other side for more privacy.
They just wanted the old gate away and a new galvanised gate for minimal maintenance
