as for this cars use.. it MAY see a track occasionally but its certainly not being built for that purpose.. as mad as it may seem its main use will be to hustle my fat **** on the local backroads as quick and as safely as possible..

please dont think i`m a wreckless hoon!! theres a time and a place for everything.. main roads and built up areas i`ll happily pootle around within the law.. BUT!! when the backroads are empty and the only thing that can get hurt is myself or a field of corn then it`ll get hammered!!! hahaha

All reet fella.

Well in all honesty the ball is already rolling around, I've just finished a 2 year build of my 2000 model A4 quattro, she is very much a fast road car with a full interior & putting out 430 horses Puts the fear of god of me it does and I was bored so decided another car was just what I needed.

I have started a thread in the projects section also, I've been lurking here for a long while so thought it time to share something, it aint pretty and im well outside my comfort zone. I've been welding for a while, been on a few courses etc and messed about but never welded a car before, I always like to jump in at the deep end as it were so lets see what happens!

just remember if your unsure a quick question will usualy get a reply the same day.. and if you do do something wrong, its only metal!! it can be cut out and re-done..

well... its been a while and i`ve been up to a few things.. so heres a very quick run through!!

after being outbid a LOT of times by last minute EBAY a*sh*les!! i made some calls and sourced these:

i then got the pedalbox all welded up:

phoned AP and found out what size discs i needed...

300mm x 26mm

so i mocked up a disc in chipboard and checked clearance, luckily compomotive = mega room!!:

then i did some decorating to keep the missus happy:

then i bought some cylinders and fittings and fitted her all up:

win!!

ok! more updates!!!

i did a quick sketch of a bell for the discs and set about a piece of 8mm ally at work.. i doubt it`ll be anywhere near right but its a start point:

after the hideous mess i got into with my inlet (massie lack of patience + massive heat = massive HUGE distortion!) i thought **** all this arseing about, got on the blower to Mr Satchell and ordered up 1 of his finest.. tbh, he makes a great product, thats proven and is a good price so it was a no brainer!!:

the quality was obivious immediatly to MotorsportKitteh:

i also got some billets for the caliper carriers.. i know it was 6082-T6 ally but that meant nothing, so i consulted the in house metallurgist:

after a couple of sniffs and a quick pawing she confirmed its HE-30 spec which is the same as what Hi-Spec use for there bits so thats all good!!



TQ- yeah once its mocked up its getting stripped, back on the spit for a few more welding jobs then blast (plastic or soda media) then paint, build, THRASH!!

Not much room under the bonnet...

That whole inlet system's mental, looks like you got the spacing just about right on the calipers.

Wheel needs to come out a few mm and the disc can go in 5mm.. it'll be lovely then!!! Haha

I have just re-read this entire thread again, God you've done a spectacular job with this, I seriously dof me cap fella. Something to be very proud of and an excellent showcase of your never ending ability to pull one out the bag. Love the shifter, strut tops & pedal box mods, love the whole thing! But please, please sort the fuel pumps out, if just for MotorsportKitteh's sake!

i must admit even though i see countless people doing it i occassionally think "what if"..

the possibility is still there to shrink the tank (lengthwise) and have the hi and low pressure pumps and the filter within the steel box then a cover dzus fastened over the lot...

I just think its an unnecessary risk, everything you have done to this car has been absolutely spot on, couldn't fault a thing, but the fuel pump next to your knackers! You have a cage king kong couldn't break and all manner of top shelf safety widgets to keep you above ground God forbid the worst happened, but the fuel pump next to you is a significant hazard. Fitting them under a cover would at least give you some separation and protect your ass from spraying fuel. I have had my fair share of proper scary moments and you can never have enough safety
