Skoda Roomster door lock removal

I have the passenger door lock actuator playing up, it periodically locks the door when closing or driving over a bump. I bought a new actuator then looked on the web & it seems really complicated, glass out & all to gain access. I know which door it is, as it’s slower than the others to operate as well. I’ve oiled what I can get at from the outside & that has improved matters, but need to get the panel’s off to either replace it or try lubricant on it. Can anyone offer any advice or has a Roomster or Fabia manual they no longer require I would appreciate it.

Haynes no longer list a paper Roomster, manual, only a online one, that I would find a pain.

Youtube is perhaps your best bet, someone will have done it before.

I'd suggest replacing rather than dissasembly. Locks are a bit complex and although my drivers door lock I thought it was back together exactly as it should be, the position must have been incorrect. It locked, and could not be unlocked. I had tried it off the car before hand.
Result was I had to carefully drill through the inner door panel and lock to surgically move the actuator to release the bloody thing.

Dont know about Skoda's but my mazda 6 was not too bad with the door trim and window stuff.

Don't know that model but all the ones I've done you need to grow and additional hand, preferably smaller with eyeballs on the end of the fingers and skin resistant to tearing

Skoda is part of the VAG group and they share a lot of parts between brands, look around and you might find a tutorial for the same lock in a different car

Thanks everyone, I’ve found a Yooo Toob video showing how to do it, it appears that there is a steel panel inside the door panel the needs drilling out to remove & the glass needs to come out. I am a bit old school & prefer a paper copy to work from. I’m hoping if I can get in there & spray some GT85 in the mech it will cure it. Removal is the last resort, oiling what I can get at seems to have helped so far….

Just replace the lock while the door still opens, sooner or later it's going to jam closed and then it's a much bigger job to fix it

If its a modern lock and sensor assembly it will be mostly sealed and no chance of cleaning or lubing without dissasembly.
The fact you say it locks when going over bumps, tells me its an electrical connection issue of the position sensor or similar.

I suggest replacing it with either a new lock or good used one, and only having to pull the door apart onece, being able to shut and lock it at the end of the day.. - less of an issue if you jave other cars and a locked garage to store it in.

I’ve got a new electric actuator, just a real pig to fix. I might have a word with the indie Skoda dealer, see if he will do it. I’ve got a knackered back at the moment so wifey won’t let me touch it.

When I worked for a German car specialist indie, most front door lock issues on VWG vehicles were down to the harness work hardening and breaking in the flex sleeve. Once confirmed, the only repair that will have any longevity is to replace the broken wire(s) with pigtails (connector with a length of wire & seals pre-assembled) making the joint inside the door, not in the flex sleeve.
When I worked for a VWG dealer, most failures were the latch assembly.
The difference was the age of the vehicle.
Obviously you need to check & confirm the cause is the harness not the latch assembly...

If it is the loom then it might be worth checking your local motor factors for a repair section?
