Skatepark materials

I have been asked to quote for some repairs to a skatepark. Whilst it is local enough for me to do, it is an hour or so away, so I wanted to try to get a basic quote together without having to visit. I have been sent photos of the issues, but wondered if anyone knew what thickness of metal is used on the ramps, and a wall thickness for any grind rails.

I'd advise to go there and speak to the skaters.

I had a good friend, now deceased*, who had a life long passion for skating.

I heard so many times about councils employing contractors who knew nothing about skating that just built what they were told to, by councilors who knew nothing about skating, and the whole thing would just be a massive waste of public money, as it would be built in a way as to make it useless to skate.

If you're just doing repair work, maybe this won't be an issue though, as the design will be set anyway?


*my friend died in his 40s. He has "skate or die" tattooed across the knuckles of his toes. He didn't die from skating, but his tattoo was 100% accurate as his passion lasted to the end.

This a great idea because something small can make all the difference, say one of the ramp transitions is off you could rectify that in the repair.

Yes, unfortunately the design is already there, and this is probably just a sticking plaster to deal with the fact that it is 17 years old now, and made out of metal, rather than concrete, which is now the preferred option for a new park. It would be a good job to land, but I can't see that I can quote an amount I think is sensible for the job - it has come about from a rospa inspection, and there is no money in the pot to get it fixed, so I think that they will baulk at any realistic price: 3mm corten sheets are over £350 each today where I quickly checked, and so doing proper repairs is going to add up pretty quickly.
