Hi Guys,
I’ve got one of these:
It was a total steal at the time (this and its little brother chop saw, £100).
Had some good use out of it, but I need more space, and to be honest it’s pretty gutless. I’ve always had the luxury of a proper SCM panel saw at work and wanted something at home for cutting larger sheets. I use whatever hardwoods I can get my hands on too. Also have a small Startrite bandsaw.
The circ saw table just takes up a massive amount of space for the amount of use I get out of it. I mounted it on castors to allow me to wheel it out when I need it, but it hasn’t helped much. When I eventually build a second shed I’m hoping to invest in / make a vertical panel saw.
Anyway, I’ve seen a few of these hand-held circular saws with guide rails recently - what are they like in practice? How easy to accurately adjust?
Any buying advice?
At the weekend due to the timber yard sending me 2x4s instead of 2x2s, and being closed until Monday, I ended up ripping them down on the Ryobi above (total nightmare). Can this be done (safely) with a hand-held circ saw? Or is a more powerful compact bench saw a better option?
Advice appreciated.
Cheers
