SIP wire feed 'pulses'

View media item 163Hello,my SIP 170 wire feed 'pulses'...ie it surges,does'nt help for smooth welds,I have not used any other machine but they can't be all like that?....is it just a crap machine?....its also impossible to tell the actual amps,very poor controls.Just wondered if anyone else has one?....thanks.

Some ideas here that might help including links to some forum posts at the bottom: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/sip-wirefeed.htm The SIPs tend to have wire feed issues and the standard plastic liner doesn't help. I've got mine working reasonably well in controlled conditions on the bench but wouldn't use it for positional welding. Mine is for sale incidentally.

I see that torch is plugged to negative. Are you using it with gasless wire? If not and you run it with solid wire and gas you need to change polarity.
