sip weldmate speed problem

A bit of background
I stick welded about 15 years ago

I borrowed a SIP MIGMATE to weld car panels
it doesn't seem to make any difference to the weld what speed I have it on so I measured the amount of wire it fed over 10 seconds
on 1 it's 210 centimetres and on 10 it's 217 centimetres
is this right

Does it change with the power settings??

ie is it the same speed on 1 on min power and the same speed on 1 on max power

Certainly it's not right that the wire speed doesn't change with the knob. I would have expected a range roughly between 0.5 and 15 m/min (depending on power setting).

My guess would be a circuit board fault. There's a little trim pot on the circuit board (small plastic square thing with a screwdriver slot). Might be worth twiddling that a little, but more likely it's one of the other components.

Didn't know the speed changed with the power settings
I'll check that
I'll also check the trim pot
I've already changed the transistor on the board to get it working in the first place

I did some more checking and found the feed pinch wheel not running smooth
I put some lubricant on the spindle and it seems to feed OK now
now all the poor welds are down to me
