sip t105p thermal overload,

hi,
sip weldmate ,t105p model 25029,gas/gasless black cover
says it has a thermal overload,
has a pic of a lamp, next to a hole in the front ,where i assume a warning lamp would be fitted,but no lamp fitted in place,,
any info on weather or not one is fitted as standard,,or how to wire one in ,,
any light thrown onto this subject would be great,

Hi,

Have answered this one in your message, but for the benefit of all there is a lamp soldered to the circuit board which has probably been pushed inside. Just open the machine up and relocate it into the hole.

my sip 105 weld mate is cutting out even when it arcs to the metal is this the thermal overload and how dose it reset is it automatic

dont understand what your asking. describe the symptoms better whats happening and what are you doing with the welder at the time .

the switch gear on sips seems to be prone to making poor contacts - pre flight checks should include flipping all the switches back and forth also take the cover off and make sure all the screwed joints on the windings are tight and that all the push on terminals are on and tight- obviously un plug it from the mains first

if you are welding off a modern domestic MCB equipped ring main the start up voltages can trip the B type breaker try plugging it in to the kitchen sockets which are usually on a separate 32a breaker those dual Cooker switch 3pin outlet combos are a safe bet-just dont let the wife catch you

the thermal overload is in the main transformer when welding the coils get hot - when they start to get to temperatures that may damage the windings the switch kicks in and stops the welder - when it cools down the switch opens again and off you go.
