sip migmate 130 turbo

ive got the above welder,and have just started using it,but im having trouble with wire feed issues

i know theese machines are prone for feed problems

can i buy a new liner,or has it gotta be the full line and torch???

could i convert to a euro torch,as theese seem more available

You can buy new liners either by themselves or as part of a torch service kit that also includes the swan neck and swan neck liner and some spare tips and shrouds. There's a how to do it page on here, and the bits are available from member weldequip.

Euro torch conversion is a lot more pricey and you'd need to buy a torch on top of the conversion.

SIP really need to sort their act out. Another wire feed problem rears it's head. I'm expecting some problems shortly; just got a Weldmate 130 and was gutted reading through the posts here about the feed probs, upon inspection I found it has a steel liner already installed. It's a new machine, but it is holding up. So far.


Seems that setting the liner on the machine end close to the feed so it doesnt crumple up, maybe use a size bigger tip and keeping the torch lead straight can help. I see Malcolm got the clicky link there. Good luck.

one of the things that seem to kill the diy torches are liners but if you look at any good euro torch, they have two springs fitted, one at the machine end and one at the torch end, this is to stop it bending and forming a kink at each end where it is most prone to do so. Makes me wonder if any one with a diy torch did the same would it cause less liner trouble

Hi folks been lurking here for a while.

I too have a SIP and was pleased to see it wasnt me or my tequnique that was getting steadily worse!

on advice from forum fitted a wire liner, cleaned the groove in the roller, fettled the gearbox and got liner, rollers and guide all as close to in line as possible.

Its like having an old friend back! what a differance.Thanks for the advice.

Im looking into finding a replacement motor to replace the scalextric reject that barely shifts the wire.
