sip mig problem

hi im new to this so any help would be great, got a sip mig welder brought second hand was useing it saturday everything working fine then out of the blue it just stopped working when i press the trigger nothing happens atall, no noise no gas nothing, so i took the trigger apart and there is two wires a blue on which goes to the metal behind the trigger which is fine and a white wire just hanging there with the copper showing on the end, dont know where this goes, if its goes anywhere atall any help please

It'll presumably be one where you can swap between gasless and gas if it has two wires to the trigger. Touch the two wires together and the welder should do it's thing.

Likely there are two metal strips inside the trigger and one wire should be connected to one and the other to the other, but I'm not sure exactly which you have. Worth posting photos if it's not obvious.

I've got a feeling some SIPs do have a spare wire in the torch, I'm sure we've had this query a few times on here. I'll see if I can find one of the threads and a pic in a bit.

Edit: Found it just by putting SIP torch into the custom google search, top right corner of the page.

Have just pluged the welder back in and it works fine, was using it for a good hour and a half dont know if it just got abit hot do they have a cutoff if they get to hot as i said before i havnt a clue all info is much appreciated as wozzaaah said the second wire must be a spare because it works fine without it thanks guys.....

Most welders are fitted with thermal sensors which cuts the power if it reaches a certain temperature. If you were using it at fairly high power for quite a long time then it's most likely that it tripped. Normally, when the thermal sensor trips, all welding power is cut but the fan will stay running to help cool the machine.
A small light on the front often lights up to tell you it's gone over-temperature.
