SIP 160 tig

Are the SIP 160 tigs any good,its 240v and AC/DC, I have been offered one at a really good price, only trouble is, it has a faulty HF Transformer, bearing in mind this is like new with low hours, its raised the question of reliability of the unit,
The other question relating to this machine that has me thinking, The repair of the welder, Im assuming its a Transformer, Thus, I assume it has fried the coils, so a new transformer is needed, does anybody know if its a universal transformer, or will I have to buy direct from SIP, but having dealings with them before, they will only direct me to a SIP registered agent, OR is it a electronic frequency generated box of tricks which may be repairable by my pet electronics whizzkid???

Having a taste for interesting junk and having tried to get information out of SIP in the past and not even got a reply directing me to one of their service agents, I'd be inclined to sport a tenner.

Whatever you pay for it could well be a dead loss except as far as the leads and bits and pieces which come with it might be worth something. Presumably whoever is offering it has checked out the cost of repair and found it's a non-starter.

Evidently the transformer went after about 4 hours running, but was out of warrenty, they refused to repair it FOC, qouted one price to repair it, then whacked him with another quote that was nearly double, more than a little annoyed it went to the back of the workshop, and bought another make, its ben sitting around for about 4 years, anf is now in the way
