ive replaced the transformer and the relay with more substantial replacements ive not connected the o/p cables onto the relay yet as i wanted to see if i could get the wire feed motor going first,this hasnt happend and ive no no voltage coming to the motor the relay comes in when the trigger is pressed so transformer etc seems ok im i right in thinking that the motor should now be turning? i cant see that i have to connect the mains to the relay to achieve this or am i wrong? any one got any ideas as to which component normally goes as they all seem standard pieces its a mig04 board if that helps any one ive put 12v on the motor and thats fine.

I believe the SIPs all power the wirefeed motor off of the welder output voltage.
If you have no power to the earth and torch, you will have no power to the wirefeed.

If i remember correctly the 12v to power the feed motor comes of the small transformer on the board.

I did draw up the original pcb before I ripped it out and replaced it with my own. I will have a loook and try to find it later on.

have you checked the connection from pcb to motor?

It's as R Kraft says.
The little transformer on the PCB is there only to operate the relay when switched by the torch trigger. The relay switches the mains input to the welding transformer whose output is also fed on to the PCB to pass through the speed control circuit to drive the motor. This is one reason why the SIPs have problems, as the arc fluctuates during welding so does the voltage to the motor causing it's speed to vary.
So without the mains connected from the relay to the welding transformer you won't get the motor to operate.

thanks the replies suppose ill connect and see what occurs,just trying to understand the circuit ,the feed for the motor does come direct from the pcb just cant figure out how it gets power on to that section of the board,,,,ill connect it and let ya know ...if it all works ill look at doing the mod for the feed motor .. regards.

just to let ya all know connected wires to relay and all works fine ,,,,just gotta get a spool and away we go hopefully anyone know whay spool assembly hould look like just got the spindle fixed to macine should there be a spring and plate or similar to hold spool in place?
