sip 105 turbo problems

hi im new!! and i just bought a 2nd hand sip mig mate 105 turbo...everything works, just got some gas on it today and started to weld but nothing happens! when you pull the trigger the gas and wire comes out but thats all.. yes i have it earthed although it looks a little grubby..

any ideas? begginer mistake? lmao.

I've moved the thread into the SIP section where you might get more replies in case of machine fault.

Work and earth area need to be perfectly clean and shiny steel before any electrical arc stuff can take place. That would be my best guess. Bunch of tutorials on here that might help from there: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/tutorial.htm

ok thanks, i just fitted a new earth clamp as the old one was all twisted and a bit poor.

i will start it tomorrow, does it matter how much gas is put through? i dont have a gauge just a regulator..

get it sparking first. if your using disposables about full flow is about right

do they only run well on full blast?

Just for starters, have you had the box open and checked the terminals on the other end of the cables from the torch and the earth? Pull the plug out the wall socket before you do this, of course. You will be checking for any loose or rusty or incomplete connections.

looks like the earth was at fault works well now!! i will set up another thread about setting it up.
