single v 2g

hi,
i have some 2g welding to do with a single v with 10mm plate (incase some one is not sure the 2 plates are standing vertically and the grove runs horizontally) and was trying to find out what technique others use? on a vertical up single v i would do a U shaped motion with the rod-what is best for 2g? would you prep plates at 30deg? should the rod be angled upwards?
i have some practice time and want make sure technique is correct before i start

i would usually use a small circular motion with a short ark the rod should be at 90° for the first past the second pass should be between the weld and the top plate you can angle the rod up[ for this one the next run should be between the bottom plate and the weld you can angle the rod down for this one. 30° prep is fine
