Hi All, Thought I had an account here from years back but apparently not.
I'm trying to keep it simple, could do with a nice machine to run 2.5 and 3.2 electrodes. Have one of those nasty buzz boxes with a fan that overheats soon as you manage to get a few inches of 2.5 down.
Also got a bust MIG welder, but i'm coping welding stuff helpful at customers, So can dodge an expensive multi process machine nice though they look! I'm coping using my AC/DC old Rilon TIG at home but its big, and awkward to take to site and wont run 7018's anyway so doubt it would be any better with cellulosic.
So after reading a bit on here and other places I've narrowed it down to a few machines. I'll put the full list down incase it saves anyone else some time looking!
The Parweld XTS162 / XTS202 I like you can select different electrode types
I see the 162 is no longer listed, possibly in favour of the XTS163?? This doesn't appear to have a select electrode function. The manual is quite poor 3 year warranty, 3 year parts only prices. £180 / £250
Jasic ARC 180SE comes with nice case and 6 year warranty. (Just remember register it, blow it out and keep a record of you servicing it apparently)
I have a local dealer that sell these too. £260
The next 3 appear to be the same machine about the £260 mark with the R Tech about £230
all 3 year warranty.
R Tech MMA PRO 175 with case
Thermal Arc 175SE (place I took my mig for repair was full of newish Thermal Arcs so not confident :s)
ESAB Buddy ARC 180
Some others out there with no UK support like Stahlwerk and Sherman which seem to pop up on ebay only.
Like a few have said previously it would be good to find a local dealer, Which is a plus for the Jasic. There maybe a supplier for the Parweld even closer. Waiting for an email from them.
Parweld seem to be the only one that let you select electrode type wonder if anyone has the others and can give some feed back on that aspect? Or a online retailer that gives excellent aftersales?
Best Regards All
Stuart.
