In the back garden starting a fire in my gas bottle when my 10 year old lad came out to see what I was upto... We sat down for a minute which turned into an hour we just relaxed had a nice chat and baked a banana as there was no marshmallows.

Bliss.

The only thing that spoilt it was the missus moaning about us smelling of smoke... So made her a cup of tea.

Have you tried stuffing the nanas with chocolate buttons then wrapping them in tinfoil? Put them on the griddle for a few minutes and the kids go nuts for them. Well that's my excuse!

very important to make time for moments like that-never knew me dad really as he died when I was eleven so have ne real memories and he was not around when I got my first motorcycle (we were a motorcycling family and he had a 650 beeza)-but I do have vague memories of being in the garage when he was working on it and my uncles bike (Velocette).
The daily grind and pace of life can lead you into putting quality time with the kids on the back burner-there is a song about that:

Another moment today while at the car boot sale as it was winding down... people don't want to take last few bits home so leave them anywhere.


My boy 5 seen a bingo game and went nuts for it, was all there so he kept it... We don't play bingo so I'm curious to know how he knows about it.

Then we spotted a trophy my kids picked it up messing about but when they seem it was for snooker they were so over joyed as we have a pool table and play tournaments when friends come round... once home they took turns polishing it.

Made my day can't wait to see what else they say or do as they grow up my guess is it will be just as funny.

My son is just 18, after a club gig the other night where a friend was playing a cigar box guitar we were inspired to build a couple, this was helped by someone else giving us a few empty cigar boxes! A week later there are two very similar but different CBG's, his is a four string, mine a 3 string.
Awesome sound from both of them. It helps that Nick is a good guitar player already (i am a total beginner) It would seem that all of a sudden a home made guitar is preferable to his shop bought ones & sounds way better, Less is more i suppose! He cant put it down.
As for me i failed miserably at a normal guitar but 3 strings is deffo easier to play. Quality time!

I haven't seems cigar box guitar but I have seen an old style petrol can (square type) made into a guitar which was amazing!

The man for cigar box/hubcap geetarz is SeaSick Steve he plays several of them when he does a gig, he now has a drummer to supplement his missippi drum machine and the drum kit is beat up and scruffy.
Last time I saw him over here John Paul Jones was playing base for him.

If you like Seasick Steve check out Samantha fish, she also plays a 3 string cbg at times, superb guitarist. Also Mike snowden.
Just had to remind my lad he has college in the morning & was keeping us up. He just learnt Steve earles copperhead road,good taste!

Seasick Steve relies on volume more than outright technique.
Not a bad sound though. Pat McDonald does CBG.
