Some serious heat

Same hereNice job I've always wanted to have a go at silver soldering but never had the chance. I use my cutting torch for heating stuff more than for cutting.
whats wrong with brazing rods brass can still be plated over unless you didn't want to put the heat inI made a copper window frame for a vintage bus
It had to be silver soldered because of the plating afterwards.
Thing nearly bankrupted me in silver solder costs!
brazing is sweated together same as silver solder just a slightly higher melting pointKeeping to original sweated together design made of multiple pressing s
Yeah sometimes something you dont want to get melty melts when brazing (guess who that happened to last night ) 5 hrs work rendered scrap with just a tad too much heat inputbrazing is sweated together same as silver solder just a slightly higher melting point
Yes and something I wasn’t prepared to do with 16swg bit too similar melting tempsbrazing is sweated together same as silver solder just a slightly higher melting point
and not being scared to get it hot!I learned to silver solder and braze before learning to gas weld practice makes perfect
Very nice workthere is something theraputic about watching the solder melt and flow around a joint. my favourite method is to use rings of solder, heat the parts and just let the flux and solder do their stuff
ready to be heated
after cooling
after pickling in acid.
the beauty of silver soldering is that whil I can be used to do heavy duty work like John's it can be used to do fine work like my boiler above and the boiler barrel is less than 1" diameter.
