Silicone sealant and lambda sensors

I've been using clear silicone sealant, kitchen/bathroom variety, on my various car exhausts for more years than I can remember. I am just about to install a new two part s/s exhaust to replace the original factory one piece variety so was going to use the same age old technique, even the manufacturer suggested the same. Thing is, I came across some threads from some car forums that said that silicone sealant was a no-no because it compromised the lambda sensors. Would appreciate your thoughts or experiences.

Standard silicone sealant is quite acidic. The silicone gasket type sealants should be fine, I'd have thought, as long as you don't put shedloads on there and end up with it interfering with the sensor.

Just to clarify, the new exhaust is a cat back system so is down-wind of the lambda sensor.

Cat and lambda sensor manufacturers say the same thing, 'lambda safe' high temp RTV sealant is dirt cheap Only an issue up stream of cats/O2 sensors
