Sif weld any good?

I'm looking for a welder but none of the usual suspects are turning up near enough to me and priced right for me to bite so far. I'll probably end up getting a new r-tech at this rate but i do prefer 2nd hand stuff if i'm honest.

Anyone know much about them?

Isn't a multiprocess machine just begging to break down a lot easier?

Never heard of it but according to this site it has a five year warranty. You should check whether that warranty is transferrable, though.

I suspect the SIF (like the R-Tech to be fair) is a generic Chinese welder. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it then does come down to price and after sales service.

Although there is no reason why a multiprocess machine should be any less reliable than any other inverter (i.e. electronic) welder, £525 seems a tad much to be spending on an unknown second hand brand.

You also mention that nothing is turning up near you (in Wales) but factor in £100 of diesel and there will be plenty of decent known second hand welders at £400 or less, within a 200 mile radius of you...

What will you be using it for mainly? Check that the lowest setting is good for the stuff you'll be welding in terms of thickness.

£100 for diesel? I dont drive a bus, more like /£20 and the poxxy bridge toll of £6.

Mig mainly thin bodywork and up to about 5mm, I'd like gas and gasless option but fancy trying some tig as i'd like to get some neatness for making my own exhaust manifold at some point (i know it's dc only). Amps are 5 - 200 on all modes, which sounds excellent.

I'll probably skip it if no one says they are good, but the duty cycle and warranty (assumed non transferable) would indicate good quality internals.

edit: just noticed sif is part of Weldability. shall investigate further.

SIF is indeed part of weld ability and they are well supported within the UK. AFAIK that specific machine is not Chinese but made in the EU, Poland I think.
They're not bad bits of kit, not the best but I'd be more than happy to have one myself.

Hahaha, don't get me wrong I think a fair few of the machines in the SIF Weld range are Chinese just not that specific one, I think the 200ACDC is European too
