Hey all, please help, I'm becoming convinced im dumb!
I recently bought a Seivert 2345 gas torch, and I'm having difficulty finding a suitable cannister for it.
I will admit that I know very little about these things, Ive used oxy acetylene before, been around engineering shops and so on, but, I've never owned one of these torches before, so the area is brand new to me.
One of the reasons I bought the torch is that it said on sieverts website that it accepts a wide range of cannisters. I'm in Ireland and there doesn't seem to any sievert stockists here.
I was in an engineering supplies shop just now, and the sales assistant and I attached the torch onto a cannister that looked like it would fit.
The cannister in the shop looked like these, it had the same fitting i believe

Should it have worked? - Im in a world of confusion here.
the thread was the same, and it did indeed mate with the cylinder, but, no gas came out, it would not ignite.
When we unscrewed it again i could hear a small bit of gas escape, so it did break a seal of some sort on the cannister.
Maybe I did something wrong... - missed something obvious.. thats entirely possible.
Any advice will be greeted with welcome ears.
regards and thanks for reading,
