I'm having problems with my electric shower at the moment and I'm looking for some advice, here goes
shower started making funny electrical noise and then the overheat light came on, then there was no hot water
it was suggested to me that the thermal cut out might be busted so i tested it and there was no continuity, new tco fitted switched shower on and off everything was fine.
later that day decided to have a shower and after switching it off the over heat light came on and it sounded like the elements were still getting power after switching it off.
so my question is what would be causing the elements to be still getting power? and would it be worthwhile cost effective to repair.
hope some of you elecy wizards can help

I had a similar problem on mine, one of the microswitches had welded itself closed.

make and model?

if the inlet is choked or there is a pressure drop it can cause problems but it does sound like something's been arcing or contacts are dirty.

For the cost of showers now, its not worth shelling out on components for them IMHO! My supplier sells a Triton 9.5kw shower, rail, hose and head for about £70!

as said microswitches welded together or the presure switch stuck open .and even if it isnt there not worth fixing bin it and buy a new one

It's a Redring 500s
I changed one of the micro switches last year as it was stuck on, bit off a pain in the **** to change tbh.
I've already spent £20 changing the tco, so not wanting to throw loads of cash into it if i can get a new one cheap.

Do showers have a standard footprint these days? I considered changing mine but that would have meant knocking all the tiles off and moving the pipes around.

quite a lot are diffrent sometimes u can get away with slightly moving them over and cover any screw holes its best to get the same make if there not to old

they all ready do if surface water of your property goes down there drains it has to be paid for even if u have a sceptic tank

as the service parts - £17 for a solenoid as the most expensive bit Vs £100 for a new one I know what id try and do - isolate the shower and make sure the on off switch works using a multi meter.
on push button main switch the plastic latching mech breaks and sticks either on or off.

next most common is the solenoid failure

footprint will be different as most Im used to (Mira) are left hand side for the services and most allow top bottom or rear connection
