shower boost pump recommendations?

Hi there
trying to rig up a better replacement for the ancient heatrae sadia water heater that died after likely 30 odd years!
Water pressure isnt brilliant so a salamander CT55 booster pump was fitted along with a new heater thing,

Trouble is the pump lasted lest than a year, judging by reviews online, thats not uncommon!
It is in a shed on the farm so not the driest of places, so it might just be that the shaft needs spun with a drill for a while to free it up, because it was seized, but i did free it up a bit

anyone know of a better, more reliable, and possibly cheaper! alternative?

Not cheaper but excellent buy from the likes of B&Q @ £769 e.
A dual element brass body pump for a shower lasts many years so long as it's not frozen in winter .
Single element ones are about £345

Cheers, that one certainly looks vastly better made, better sealed off to the environment!

For now I am going to try and replace the rusty bearing i found in the salamander pump, but I dont suppose it will last forever, i guess the seal must be leaking very slightly

The old green bodied Stuart Turner Monsoon (brass) pumps are very very good, I've got a few floating around that were all second hand and have been good, I then bought a second hand black bodied one like above and didn't use it for a year or more then when I tested it it was partially seized, a new one would no doubt be fine though.
I've just fitted a new Grundfos pump at home and I'm quite impressed with how well it's built and how quite it is, it was a fair bit cheaper than an equivalent Stuart Turner pump.

I did a bit of research on spares availablity and found Stuart Turner and Grundfos very good but Salamander I could find hardly anything for.

yeah the salamander ones feel very throw away!! not designed to be fixed

I'm on my second Watermill double ended pump. The first one did 10 yrs. I stripped it and found it was brushed, and they were worn out. Not easy to fix though, since you have to strip the pump end and mechanical seal off. Throwaway item really.

That's what I do with them...buy them cheap and chuck them when done...I used to buy turner but as mentioned above I'm not sure the new ones are as good as the old ones.

they still seem dear enough for all they are! maybe im just tighter than a ducks hole
