1mm, I wouldn't be confident either. Consider welding some angle iron underneath across to both sides of the axel supports ?

Seems to take the weight ok, if it deforms much i will cut out the bottom and add a few strips of flat bar underneath, and for the first time in two years the gas bottle is no long in danger of getting knocked over, probably going to add a shelf on top but that can wait till another day.

Just got mine pretty much finished now. The idea was to make something which would take my new Plasma cutter and my new-to-me TIG welder as well as my home made Heath Robinson TIG cooler. The frame was made of some supports off an old desk, some 1.5mm steel sheet and some 25mm square ERW tube. Most of this was kicking around the workshop or fished out of the scrap bin.
Got the wiring laid out here. There's 6 metres of cable with a 32A 5 pin 415v plug. This is distributed into 32A 240V for the plasma cutter. 3 off 15A fused phases for the welder, and a 13A socket for the cooler.
Sprayed this with some 2 pack primer.
Sprayed this again with some synthetic red paint afterwards. Then started loading/hanging the various bits on it...
The drawers were a bit of a faff to install, but I find that there is so much widgetary with TIG welding that I don't think it will be difficult to fill them up...
Although this setup looks really chunky, it's quite a bit smaller (and much more manouverable than my existing BOC ADR 300 AC/DC TIG welder.

Work in progress, plug welding 1mm sheet to the bottom not entirely confident that the gas bottle wont go through it.
1mm is plenty if your spot welds are strong, if you don't want the sheet to deflect or risk the spot welds breaking off then as some else said, put a bit of angle or SHS under it. I regularly walk over my sheet metal trim deck roof on the shed and that is only 0.5mm thick with a frame span of 1.3m and I am 96kg.Work in progress, plug welding 1mm sheet to the bottom not entirely confident that the gas bottle wont go through it.

I have some inch box section I think I might make up a trolley for mine and get in on this action

Thanks @Wallace Mind you there is nothing new under the sun, just a lot of ideas picked up and filed away, simmering away in the background until they are regurgitated when the right problem or application comes along. First mig welder I ever used must be well over 25 years ago, was a "Tacker"...

An extinguisher is in my plans, as well as a water container & a fire blanket.

I have limited space for mechanical work, and in the summer I prefer to welding in the yard. Therefore, all equipment must be placed on wheels for mobility.
