show us your Mig/bottle Trolley

As the title says peeps

iam looking for inspiration for a trolley to house my Clarke 151TE & pub size mig gas bottle but iam wanting to build summat that will take a bigger bottle later,,not the full size one but the same diameter/half the height

I made one out of 40mmx40mmx1.8mm box section earlier this year. Supports both the Clarke mig and the bottle is strapped up. Will try and remember to photograph it for your information. It is not pretty but is functional.

I made this years back, it started off with an oxy/acetylene portapack system on it, then mig and plasma cutter, with the Mig bottle on the side, and leads/hoses on side hooks. there is also a small firebrick hearth on top, I even had at one point a large piece of 3mm plate that hangs on the back and sits on the top for Mig welding. It evolved in response to my needs.

Wheels 'sponsored ' by Safeways as is the handle/arm rest on the front.

Sold it a year back to another forum member as I didn't need it any more and could not bear to chop it up.

If you are making this kind of kit, take your time and make it versatile.

Egg man, nice wheels, how about a flat plate on top, a drawer and hooks for the leads etc. And maybe a flame paint job.

After seeing yours I thought "hmm...fold out table" idea.
And yes, really need some hooks and hoops on there.

The soft tires are because the welder is screwed to the trolley itself and I didn't want all that vibration moving it up and down steps, etc, to affect the electronics.

This is James Bond stuff. I reckon a flat top in 3mm, then fold up sides in the same. And somewhere to put stuff. That looks like the beginnings of a beautiful workstation. For defo somewhere to hang leads etc.

Here's one I made earlier

wheels from an old cage trolley 2 fixed 2 swivel
base from 40mm angle iron unit was part of the halfords £40 tool cabinet deal last Christmas. (Got a proper one for my birthday).

frame and wheels are welded and the cab is bolted on. Length of cabin to hold the bottle on is also bolted and shackled

spare ladder hooks on the front to hang stuff/torch/earth tail and helmet
Wire/clamps/spares and tools in the cabinet

I have too many projects on without building a trolley, so I just got that one, arc on the bottom, mig on the top, wire etc on the middle shelf could be modified to take a tig too... there is enough room for all three (just) and a nice bottle of Y BOC argon mix on the back

Worth bolting the mig to the top, I screwed the mig down by modifying the feet of the machine. I kept pushing the mig instead of the trolley and I kept almost pushing it off

I did that, but plasma. Mig and Tig. I struggled with Tig welding for two years. Turns out you cant Tig weld with argon mix. Well you can just badly enough to think it will get better.

I know I can't use argon mix. I may mod the trolley so I can put another bottle on it... Just not sure where

Well I am excited as I have just brought an r-tech 160 ac/dc tig I may just run it on a disposable for the first two bottles then have to find me some argon and then I need to fit it on my trolley or make a special area for the tig?

Is it ok to lay argon on its side? if I can then I can remove my arc and place the small argon there with the tig above. Lots to think about

I had my bottle on it's side for several years with no problems.
I had a couple of 'experts' tell me it was dangerous as the liquid would get into the regulator. Were they spouting needlessly?

If it were a liquid there might be a problem, but it is a gas under pressure.

Acetylene on it's side woud not be the best idea.

Not Mig, but you get the jist, would be better with 4 steering wheels, but as it all came from the skip at work I can't complain!

Best of all no paint. You can see that this one will evolve all sorts of attachments. And scrounged as well. FREE, the best word ever.

Nice & tidy solution, my only concern would be the weight of the harness pulling on the back cap, maybe a cradle for the torch?.

It only sits there while it cools/ between use. Usually dangles by the side and covered by a sheet when not in use but I hear where you're coming from and as Chunkolini says, it will evolve as time progresses
