These two are for machining of course, The smaller is a 3 1/2" Elliott, and the larger is a 6" Abwood; both exelent tools.
I guess you can see that I like green , and I hope my rainy day show and tell has been interesting to some of you.

Its just about the right size for my Tom Senior Mill. The 6" Abwood is a beast, very heavy, but closes like a bank vault.

A 4 1/2" Abwood would be a good size, and they are superbly made.

Most of the old school quality used vices on ebay look rather battered and have seen better days. There appears to be an (unabused) 4" Bison vice included with Marlow vertical mill on the GANDMTOOLS site. Even though the mill seems reasonably priced, its been for sale for quite awhile. Have a look, if the vice suits your purpose it might be worth a call to see if they would consider selling it separately ?

My Wife and I are going to the show on Friday morning. My friend Lenny said you may find some bargains if you get there early. I'll be the guy wearing the "Templeton Feed And Grain" hat, a green one of course.

what do you think this vice is worth ,might be able to get my hands on it soon ,have another 2 vices to finish restoring when get time but not as old as this guy , didn't know whether to add to projects pile or let someone else restore it from the way it is ,belongs to an old farmer I know

T style jaw, weaker than the V. Has a home-made look, or maybe a blacksmith one.

looks like an old wrought iron parallel t-bar bench vice , not as strong as some i agree but still a nice project for the winter months and if I know the farmer it will have been put to the test many times ...lol

Doesn't look abused, just cosmetically challenged. A few minutes under the sandblaster will give it a facelift.

Looks good ,nice wide jaws that don't look in bad nick and the bar is straight ...buy it ...

I've just bought a wrought iron parallel t-bar bench vice. Spotted it at an auction, never saw one before so I stuck a few bids on it and bought it for £25! Didn't know what it was until I read these posts!



It's quite large, that's a Record No 6 it's sitting on!



Slender neck with 4.5" jaws in near mint condition, which is surprising given that the handle is very badly bent!

I think this is my vice but I can see no markings.

What a description in the catalogue! Must have been well exciting looking through, unlike some of the shocking write-ups on some online auction sites today, (though I do get excited when someone lists something saying they don't know what it does and with a low buy-now price!)
