Good evening everyone. I started a new project. One pipe wise project. It had two major flaws. A crack in transition on top, and a broken jaw.

I must keep an eye out for some of those Record clamps. I have some that are made of monkey metal, and while they're good enough for most things, they tend to squirm a bit under real tension.

The 121 series of clamps are excellent I've a few of them. A few things have changed in them over the years though. The older ones have a thicker screw than the newer ones, they are pretty pricey new (but not all sizes are available now)

I've been meaning to take a picture of this vice for ages but I kept forgetting, it's s big old thing, ( mug for scale) with a moving rear jaw, no makers name or number, it lives outside the workshop in a lean-to and gets used for everything it was designed to do and many things that it wasn't designed to do!

That's either a really small jug or a very substantial vice! Unusual to see an exposed screw vice of that size. I wonder who made it?

I had a quick scrape around it but couldn't see a name, when I've got the steam cleaner round the back I will blast the crud off it and have a better look

Picked up my first vice, a record number 1.
3" jaws 9" travel. Not bad for a starter vice. Got it from a car boot at New York Stadium for £5

They're a nice, sturdy little vice, the No.1's. I have one here, and it's coped with holding 1/2" rod whilst being threaded.

Somebody was cleaning the garage and would not have this ???? Got it for free.

I scored these three beauties for £30 today, not £30 each, but £30 for the lot .

My pocket may be £30 lighter now, but my new bench when I build it will be about 75kg heavier.

L-R, Record 52½E quick release carpenters vice, a Record 92½ pipe vice, and a Record 84 quick release fitters vice.

And of course the obligatory mug shot to provide scale

A Woden steel vice. Believe that one is a 4-1/2" or so.

No idea what make they are as no marking apart from 150 on the side...Gumtree bargain £45 for the pair. 6 inch wide jaws...Apologies for no "mug for scale"
