Shoulder bolts, can't find them anywhere!

Socket shoulder screws....socket head, rather than slotted, but pretty common on machinery.

It's a lovely idea, but the head may be too thick. Luckily I have another frame in the yard that I can measure up.

In metric yes, but finding UNF 1/4" is more of a challenge.

Now then Bob, 'tis funny you mention that because I now recall that it was born of the Stag frame. I spoke to a Reliant spares mate and he told me that part of a Stag kit is useable. Hex heads, but I don't mind that. £60 so I might have to have a look into that.

Looking at my old ones, they are not all UNF either I don't think.

but I think turning the head on a shoulder screw would be easiest.

If I had a lathe it would have been done by now! It looks like I am going to have to look at the Stag kit initially @ £71.40

My ideal spec would be bright stainless with Torx or Allen head. Due to the scissor action of the frame, the head thickness is a parameter to be concerned about, thank you for that link though.

These are the only two shoulder bolts that I found (so far) in my fastener bins that look anywhere close to what you need. These are Torx-head, 1/4-28 UNF thread, 5/16" shoulder diameter, 1/4" shoulder length, with 1/8" thick heads, and it appears that the thread length is about 1/4 inch. Unfortunately, I can't recall where I got these, as I've cobbled together a collection of fasteners from so many different sources over the years. If I happen to remember where they came from, I'll let you know. I'll take another quick look through some likely fastener bins in the morning, and if I happen to find any similar screws I'd be glad to mail them to you, although I'm not overly optimistic.
