Redwine, never grind off weld unless you have to for aesthetic reasons or fitting issues, or cos they they need cleaning/doing again. That extra metal (reinforcement, it's called), is useful.
Dont bother, they are covered by carpet and padding anyway, just finding extra work for yourself.
As Drains mentioned, only when they need to be ground should you grind them.
