It's obvious you are under a compulsion to buy something in the Screwfix sale.
Why not get a set or two of assorted clamps to sate the urge? They're the same set of cheap clamps that Draper/Silverline/Machine Mart sell, but a bit cheaper and a few extra clamps are always handy.
yes now i can see why they haev sales , it makes people want to buy. mayb some clamps and an extra pair of gloves will do,. thanks for the link. i might buy one box of rods from screwfix just to try em.
Learn to say NO to sales and you'll have much more money for good gear.
Look at it this way:
Everyone offering you a sale is looking to make you somewhat poorer. Give them a vertical finger salute and learn to like ignoring their pitch.
Crawl, Walk, and go from there.
Best thing buy a arc welder and learn on that, don't buy off ebay, go to a local engineering shop, somewhere where you would like to work if you wanted to and see if they have a secondhand welder, tell them your wanting to learn, and get them to show you it works before you buy, Then buy some steel to learn on, and go back every few days and buy more rods. After 10 packs of rods you should be able to run a weld in most positions, by then after buying a welder and 10 packs of rods they will know you are keen, then ask if you can watch tradesmen welding and i mean watch and remember.
ANYONE CAN PULL THE TRIGGER ON A MIG AND THINK THEY CAN WELD, But learn how to arc weld first, Practice makes perfect.
