so I had a job on Saturday to dig out and concrete a drive way. nothing major, 3 ton of concrete all together. started by strimming the grass away to make it easier to dig out, strimmer died, wont start at all, spent a bit of time fault finding then gave up and ripped it all out by hand.
that done, started digging, hit stones, then bricks, then tree roots, then more stones, then hardcore, all in 4 inches depth. took over 4 hours to dig out a 2x3.3m rectangle 4 inch deep using a pick axe a spade and an sds drill with a 40mm chisel. worst ground I have ever tried to dig by far.
then, whilst mixing the concrete my mixer packed up. took the control unit apart, burnt out relay. nipped home, got a relay got it going again, lost an hours time though. then once the concrete was done I was to cut and shorten some wrought iron fencing panels to make them fit around the drive. had to cut and weld, well until the mig blew up 3 welds in anyway. nipped home yet again, got the inverter, job sorted now.
have to go back in a few days when the concrete has had time to harden and install the fence panels as they want the screwed down rather than concreted in so they can remove them if needed.
haven't opened the mig up yet, not sure if im going to bother as its only a 100amp unit, may just use the inverter for everything until I can afford an r-tech 250.
I can honestly say I would have rather stayed in bed yesterday if id known how difficult literally everything was going to turn out
