I got mine from Staksey's. It wasn't cheap and I still haven't found anything to fill it with! It seems to be pretty well made though (from the states).

Me too, seems like good quality and use them a bit but not a lot.
Silver sand? OK, that shouldn't be too difficult to find. My problem is to know how much to fill the bag with, as I sent it with some other tools to my other house / workshop (in the Philippines) and carrying in me hand baggage could be an issue going through Amsterdam next weekend. Not to worried about fill as silver sand is good for bigger bags
Anyone using a piece of tree trunk with the scoop carved out for shaping sheet metal ?
I've got one but don't use it that often, use my shot bag more.
I bought a job lot of chrome leather aprons and spats on eBay for £6 and used one apron and a pair of spats to make 3 different sized shot bags.

I stitched them all round apart from a small bit of the seam where I stitched in some velcro.
Filled them with kiln dried sand.
I mainly find the shot bag handy for a quick stretch out before smoothing in the wheel.
How did you stick them, by hand or machine ?
sounds like you are sleeping on the job there sir
It was machine stitched with a Husqvarna domestic sewing machine, a sharp needle, take it slowly, be careful how you feed it under the foot and finally do it when the machines owner is out!Reason I asked was that mum has an industrial sewing machine, if I ask nicely she will stick one up for me
