Shoe/Boot laces

Any recommended brands from the people here who presumably tend to wear fairly industrial footwear?

I don't know why but I seem to be very heavy on them and I'm forever having to tie knots in them when they break (usually when I'm rushing to be out of the door in time, or at least that's how it seems) or spending the day with one odd coloured lace when the outer braid has worn through and I'm just left with the inner cord showing, which is inevitably white.

Last set I bought were Kiwi and seemed good but it turns out that they aren't really braided so when the binding thread has worn through they've turned into a loose collection of cords that are a pain to try and tie.

I've got some cheap paracord that I bought to mess around making splices and whatnot with my neices and I think tonight might be an exercise with some of that and some heat shrink but I'm not expecting it to last long.

It’s the open quick lace bit on the tops of any boots that kills laces.

I ordered some from eBay and they are lasting surprisingly well

Can’t remember the seller now, but cheap enough to replace when ever required

A roll of paracord d0es me and melt the ends when you cut it. Does anyone do the stuff they make flat laces out of ? I find they don't come loose as quick as my round ones.

my wife get's thru trainers quite quickly so I rob the laces from the bin........
don't care if they r odd coloured......nobody see's / talks to me anyway.....hahaha

same here and thats due to i really pull the lace tight on the boot

i find once they cut through the outer braided layer they just come apart the last laces i bought was 4.00 and they still cut through the same

only alternative i can see is thin braided rope

I bought a few pairs of flame retardent laces as mine were always getting burnt with spatter etc.

I have the same problem. usually go through 3 sets of laces before the boot is worn out.

I’ve given up and mainly stick to slip ons, my welding work boots have a Velcro fastening at the sides, admittedly lace ups may be better if you have a lot of walking to do.

If money is no object then Timberland pro series are pretty good.

Mine have all lasted over a year, that's 7 days a week with hot metal scale, weld splatter, horses treading on them, mud, etc..

I think the last pair I bought were 7 quid though!!!

Screwfix sell the dewalt workboot ones for £2.50 . Pretty tough as well.

Can't remember the last time I snapped any - I wear boots you lace up to fit . . . then undo a side zip to get them off.

Those, or steel toed cowboy boots - mainly to annoy our H&S people . . . "you can't wear them . . " . . .yes I can . . ;-)

They seem to last 9-12months in my work boots.

I got a set like that from Arco. Well actually I had two pairs and told them to keep the third pair and give me my money back when they obviously had the same problem straight out of the box that the other two had. Can't say I was too disappointed as I still couldn't remove them by just undoing the zip.

So for named suggestions we've got Timberland pro, Dewalt workboot and Sports Direct cheap football boot laces. Will have an investigate. Thanks folks.
